Stainless steel lift doors often show concentrated fingerprints around the height where people touch them. Comparing that zone with less-contacted areas can help plan maintenance, but it is not a controlled durability test of a protective coating. Exposure, cleaning frequency and handling differ across the same door.
Coordinate with the building's lift service and cleaning procedures. Keep work within permitted cosmetic maintenance and do not interfere with door movement, tracks, controls or safety systems. Identify the stainless finish and any factory-applied treatment before selecting a cleaner or coating.
Photograph the hand-height zone and a quieter comparison area under the same lighting. Clean both using the approved process, including the specified removal and drying steps. Note whether marks disappear, move with wiping or remain fixed in the finish.
Inspect cloth condition and handling. A cleaner may touch the door immediately after wiping it, or a shared cloth may transfer residue from another fixture. These practical details can explain recurring marks without establishing a defect in the coating.
Give frequent-contact areas an appropriate cleaning interval while avoiding unnecessary aggressive treatment of the complete door. Keep products compatible with neighbouring trims and signage. Do not apply a cosmetic coating to operational components or claim that it removes the need for the building's hygiene procedures.
Record the product, method and observations after normal use. If the cleaned surface remains uneven or damaged, obtain a finish assessment before recoating. A useful outcome is a repeatable appearance standard and clear maintenance responsibility, supported by photographs that show the actual contact conditions.
