Stainless steel reflects its surroundings, so camera angle and lighting can change the apparent result. Consistent photographs are more useful than dramatic comparisons taken under different conditions.
Photograph the clean, dry surface from a repeatable position. Include grain direction, existing marks and a wider view identifying the component. Keep the same lighting and nearby reflections as consistent as practical for later images.
If cleaning or specialist restoration is included, record the accepted prepared finish before coating. Explain those stages when presenting the result. A shiny wet panel should not be compared with a dull dry baseline as proof of the coating’s performance.
For follow-up photographs, include the date and recent cleaning history. Document high-contact areas separately where their exposure differs. Images can support an assessment of appearance, but they do not by themselves prove corrosion resistance or a guaranteed service life. Keep any measured claim connected to its actual test or observation record.
