An inspection or safety label may need to remain readable and intact. Confirm its status before removal or glass preparation.

Assess the starting condition

Identify the label, printed marking and any enclosure documentation. Some markings are permanent features of the glass; they should not be treated as cosmetic dirt.

A practical working method

  1. Confirm which labels may be removed and which must remain.
  2. Use a compatible method for approved removable adhesive.
  3. Keep permanent markings outside unapproved abrasive or chemical treatment.
  4. Document the final marking condition and treated glass scope.

Common mistake

Polishing over a marking to improve appearance can remove information rather than a defect. Strong adhesive cleaners can also affect nearby printing.

What a useful result looks like

A useful result preserves required identification while preparing suitable glass. If the status of a label is unclear, obtain enclosure-specific clarification before altering it. Coating should not be presented as a reason to remove a required mark.
