Select a car shampoo by the paint condition, existing wax or sealant and intended wash result, with clear dilution and rinsing instructions.

Choosing shampoo for uncoated paint does not mean selecting the strongest cleaner available. The useful question is what needs to be removed and which existing finishes or protection products should remain.
Identify what is already on the car
Ask whether wax, sealant or a recent wash-and-protect product has been applied. Check matte paint, wraps and delicate trim separately. A vehicle without ceramic coating can still have surface-specific care requirements.
If the protection history is unknown, use a conservative suitable maintenance approach and avoid interpreting water beading as proof of one particular product.
Read the intended use
Choose an automotive shampoo suitable for the surface and follow its dilution. A maintenance shampoo, a wash-and-protect product and a preparation cleaner serve different purposes. Do not use them interchangeably simply because all produce foam.
Consider the next step. If polishing or coating is planned, a product that leaves protective residue may complicate preparation. For ordinary washing, confirm whether any added gloss or protection is desirable.
Judge the wash by the result
Check dirt removal, rinsing and the dry finish. Foam thickness and fragrance are not reliable measures of cleaning quality. If residue remains, review concentration and rinsing before increasing strength.
Use the uncoated-car wash sequence and pre-coating wash preparation. For a future NANOLAB installation, select preparation products around the exact coating instructions rather than adapting a routine wash by guesswork.
