Whether a leftover rinseless wash solution can be reused depends on the product instructions and what has happened to that solution. A bucket that contains unused, correctly mixed product is different from a bucket into which dirty towels have repeatedly been returned.
Record when the solution was mixed, how it was stored and whether contaminated tools entered it. Do not infer cleanliness from clear appearance or pleasant smell. Visible grit, debris, an unknown mixture or an uncertain storage history is a reason to stop considering it for delicate paint.
Check the manufacturer's instructions for storage of diluted product. Concentrate shelf life does not establish the storage life of a working solution. Adding fresh concentrate to an old mixture does not remove contamination or prove that the resulting concentration is correct.
For future jobs, mix only the amount reasonably needed and keep any clean reserve separate from the working container. Use labelled measuring equipment and a clean lid. Never pour used wash solution back into the original concentrate bottle.
If a clean reserve is permitted to be stored, label the product, concentration and mixing date. Inspect the container before later use and follow the supplier's limits. Disposal should follow the product instructions and local requirements; this article does not establish permission to discharge it into a particular drain.
The practical decision is straightforward: retain solution only when its identity, condition and permitted storage are known. Saving a small amount of diluted cleaner is poor value if it introduces uncertainty into an expensive finish. A repeatable mixing and reserve system is a better way to reduce waste than stretching the use of questionable leftovers.
