Understand how a proposed nano coating relates to galvanised steel, and what to verify about the zinc finish, preparation and service conditions.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Galvanised steel already has a zinc-based protective system. Adding a nano coating creates a new compatibility question; it does not remove the need to understand the galvanising, its condition and the environment. Treat the proposal as a specific surface-treatment project, not a universal upgrade for any zinc-coated object.
Record how the component was finished and whether it carries paint, passivation or another post-treatment. Ask the fabricator which cleaning and preparation methods are permitted. A freshly manufactured component and a weathered exterior panel may present very different surfaces.
Inspect for deposits, damaged areas and persistent moisture traps. Do not assume that every pale mark is ordinary dirt or that polishing it away is an acceptable preparation method. Where the condition is uncertain, obtain advice from the galvaniser before altering the surface.
State what the additional treatment is meant to improve: visible handling marks, a particular cleaning task or appearance consistency. If corrosion protection is part of the requirement, request evidence that applies to the actual layered system and exposure. Water beading alone does not establish that requirement.
Avoid assigning a service life to the combined system from the ceramic coating name or an unrelated automotive test. The trial needs its own acceptance criteria and observation period.
Agree on preparation before applying abrasives or strong chemicals. Do not remove the zinc layer just to achieve the reflection expected from polished metal. Protect joints, drainage features and contact surfaces that are outside the approved treatment scope.
Use a matching sample for initial assessment and inspect both dry appearance and behaviour after the intended cleaning cycle. Record the full process, including any pre-existing post-treatment.
An additional nano treatment does not replace repair of damaged galvanising, management of standing water or assessment of dissimilar-metal contact. Keep the galvaniser’s requirements with the coating instructions. A credible specification says exactly what was evaluated and leaves untested performance claims out of the proposal.
