Microfiber Par Stock for a Hotel Glass-Care Programme

Calculate microfiber stock for hotel glass care from daily demand, laundry turnaround and reserve needs instead of buying by room count alone.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A hotel may have enough microfiber towels for one cleaning shift and still run short because yesterday’s towels remain in laundry. Par stock should cover the full circulation cycle, including inspection and replacement.

Measure the daily requirement

Count the towels used for the defined glass-care task under the accepted routine. Keep different towel roles separate where contamination control requires it. Room count alone is insufficient when occupancy, departure cleaning and restoration work vary.

A simple planning example

If the task requires 120 suitable towels per day and clean stock returns after two days, the circulation requirement is approximately 240 towels before adding today’s operational buffer and any reserve required by the actual issue-and-return schedule. Draw the daily sequence to avoid counting the same day twice.

A safer planning method is to plot clean stock issued and returned on each day, then size stock to the maximum expected deficit plus a justified reserve.

Include rejected towels

Loss or delay Planning response
Late laundry return Defined contingency stock
Contamination or damage Inspection and replacement allowance
Peak departures Demand scenario beyond the average

Protect clean-stock quality

Storage and transport must keep clean towels separate from used or contaminated materials. Additional stock does not solve cross-contamination if everything is mixed on one trolley.

Review actual circulation

Track shortages, returns and rejection reasons for several representative cycles. Adjust quantities from evidence rather than continually adding towels without understanding where they disappear.

The goal is uninterrupted access to suitable clean microfiber, which supports consistent glass care and prevents staff from extending a towel’s use merely because the cupboard is empty.
