A facilities team needs product-specific care information for coated stainless steel, especially when several decorative finishes are present. The handover should identify treated areas and explain where guidance can be found. A generic instruction to clean gently leaves too much open to interpretation.
Record panel or feature locations, installed product identity and relevant dates. Distinguish coated surfaces from untreated or differently treated areas. Include exclusions around adjacent materials or operational components where relevant.
Provide the exact product's approved maintenance guidance and clarify which existing cleaning practices need review. For example, a facilities contractor should not assume that a process used on an untreated metal feature also applies to a newly coated decorative panel. Establish who can answer uncertain compatibility questions.
Brief supervisors and ensure the information reaches the people doing the work. Record unusual observations and relevant maintenance changes. Update the asset record after panel replacement or refinishing. The handover is complete when a new team member can identify the surface, find the appropriate instructions and report a concern with useful context. That practical continuity is more valuable than a certificate that confirms installation but does not explain how the actual building assets should be cared for.
Identify treated panels, excluded components, product identity, current care guidance and the support contact. Separate routine cleaning from stain investigation, repair and possible renewal. Ask the facility team to confirm which tasks its existing contractor performs.
Keep substitutions to cleaners or tools visible in the maintenance record. If the building changes contractors, include the coating information in the new contract handover. A coated-metal record should remain attached to the asset rather than to one employee's inbox. This allows future staff to ask informed questions and avoids treating every metallic-looking surface in the building as though it received the same product.
