Graphene Coating and Stone Chips: Do Not Promise Impact Immunity

A graphene coating should not be represented as making paint immune to stone chips.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A graphene coating should not be represented as making paint immune to stone chips. An ingredient associated with interesting mechanical research does not establish impact protection for a thin applied coating system.

Define the concern

Ask whether the customer is worried about fine surface marking, contamination or impact damage. These are different problems and may require different solutions. A test supporting one type of resistance should not be used as evidence for all of them.

Explain the product’s role

Describe the selected coating’s documented purpose and limitations. If the customer needs protection against a different damage mechanism, discuss that requirement directly rather than stretching the graphene story to cover it. Avoid demonstrations that imply a vehicle can be exposed to harsh contact without consequence unless a relevant, bounded result is being explained.

Honest expectation-setting is part of a professional sale. A coating can be valuable within its intended role without being presented as a universal physical shield against road debris or every kind of mechanical damage.
