No scratch-proof promise follows from the presence of a graphene additive.

No scratch-proof promise follows from the presence of a graphene additive. Research on the strength of an isolated graphene membrane measures a specific material under a specific test, not every possible scratch event on automotive paint.
The well-known monolayer strength research used nanoscale indentation of suspended membranes. A vehicle coating is a different specimen, applied over a different support and exposed to different loads. Moving from one result to the other requires evidence from the actual coating system. Quoting the material’s reputation does not fill that gap.
If scratch resistance is important, request a defined test on the finished product and a description of the damage being assessed. Distinguish fine wash marks, abrasive contact and stone impact instead of treating them as the same problem. Ask what limitations remain after treatment and what care is still required. A customer should never infer permission to use abrasive washing methods from the word graphene.
A useful coating claim names the measured resistance and its limits. ‘Scratch-proof because graphene is strong’ skips the product evidence customers need.
