Bathroom Renovation with Retained Shower Glass: Separate Old and New Surfaces

A renovation can leave some glazing in place while replacing other panels or hardware. Keep each surface’s history separate when planning nano coating.

Identify what remains

Map retained panes, replacement glass and changed fittings. Record any known factory treatment and previous coating. A new room appearance does not make every pane a new, untreated surface.

Inspect after the relevant building work

Assess the actual glass when the agreed installation and cleaning stages allow it. Record residue, marks and uncertain damage. Do not use coating to conceal unresolved construction or glazing issues.

Define preparation by surface history

Review each pane’s supplier guidance and the intended coating method. Retained glass may need a different assessment from a verified new pane. Use separate acceptance areas where the outer finishes or histories differ.

Update the final record

Keep application dates and treated faces tied to the correct panes. Give the household or cleaning contractor the current care method and note excluded areas. Future support should be able to identify the pane without reconstructing the renovation from memory.

Frequently asked question

Can one coating date represent every pane after a renovation?

Record the actual work on each identified surface. Retained and replaced panes may have different treatment histories.
