Map cleaning and coating boundaries on a reception desk combining glass, decorative metal, stone and other finishes.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A reception desk can combine several materials within one wiping path. A cleaner or coating suitable for the front metal panel may be unsuitable for the countertop, inset glass or decorative trim. Plan the route around the actual finishes.
Identify each exposed material, factory treatment and intended use. Record food-contact or other functional requirements where relevant rather than assuming a cosmetic coating approval covers them. Obtain supplier guidance for unknown finishes before treatment.
| Zone | Record |
|---|---|
| Countertop | Material, finish and use restrictions |
| Metal front | Decorative or bare finish and grain direction |
| Glass insert | Existing treatment and accessible faces |
| Trim and joints | Compatibility and exclusion boundaries |
Watch how staff normally clean the desk. Identify where one cloth crosses materials or where spray and runoff reach adjacent areas. Assign suitable tools and products so the routine preserves each finish’s requirements.
Use discreet representative areas and inspect both the target surface and its neighbours after the proposed process. A successful isolated metal sample does not demonstrate that the whole assembled desk can be treated without transfer.
A metal-front coating trial passes, but the normal cleaning spray reaches an adjacent stone edge. The next decision concerns the cleaning route and adjacent-material compatibility. It is not resolved by applying more coating to the metal.
Provide a simple annotated photograph showing products, tools and exclusions by zone. Keep it accessible to cleaning staff and update it after replacement panels or refinishing work.
Review joints, handles and high-contact areas during follow-up. These locations often experience a different maintenance burden from broad decorative panels.
A mixed-material coating project succeeds when the treatment and cleaning route work together. The surface schedule prevents a single attractive product claim from overriding the specific needs of each finish.
