Decorating near stainless steel introduces dust, paint droplets, adhesive tapes and cleaning products that may not suit the existing finish. Protect the metal before work starts and agree how coverings will be removed. A nano coating should not be treated as permission to skip construction protection.

Agree the protection method

Identify bare stainless, decorative finishes and any applied coating. Obtain the relevant care instructions and share them with the decorator. Select coverings and attachment methods compatible with the surfaces they contact; do not assume every masking tape is suitable for a coated panel.

Photograph the starting condition and record areas that cannot be covered without specialist access. Keep abrasive cutting or sanding debris from reaching exposed metal. Do not rest tools, ladders or material offcuts against finished panels.

Plan the sequence so protection remains in place during dusty work but is removed within the covering manufacturer's permitted conditions. A covering left too long or exposed outside its specification can create a separate cleanup problem.

Inspect before selecting a remover

After the work, identify any remaining deposit before treating it. Paint, adhesive and ordinary dust require different approaches. Use the surface and coating supplier's approved route instead of reaching for a strong construction solvent by default.

Clean a small area where advised and inspect it dry. Stop if the finish changes or the deposit remains uncertain. Document products used and contact the appropriate supplier for persistent marks. Do not polish a decorative stainless finish locally without an agreed restoration process, because the repaired texture may differ from the surrounding panel. Good protection planning is usually easier to reproduce than an improvised repair after decorating is complete.
