Graphene Weathering Claims: Exposure Hours Are Not Automatically Years

An accelerated exposure can help compare coating behaviour under a defined procedure.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

An accelerated exposure can help compare coating behaviour under a defined procedure. Its duration should not be converted into years of real-world service without a validated basis for the specific system and claim.

Read the exposure details

Ask what conditions were used, which property was assessed and what endpoint was considered unacceptable. A graphene coating may be evaluated for appearance, water behaviour or another response, and those outcomes should not be merged into a single lifetime number. Keep the original test description with the result.

Report field evidence separately

Real-world observations should identify location, exposure, maintenance and the period actually observed. If a trial is still running, state the completed duration rather than presenting a forecast as a result. Accelerated and field tests can complement each other, but neither should be described as the other.

The honest claim names the exposure and observed outcome. Graphene branding does not justify a shortcut from a laboratory hour count to a guaranteed number of years on every vehicle.
