Graphene Additive Loading: Percentage of What?

A percentage for graphene content is incomplete until its basis is clear.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A percentage for graphene content is incomplete until its basis is clear. It might refer to the supplied liquid, a dry material basis or a separately supplied dispersion. These values should not be compared as though they mean the same thing.

Make the denominator explicit

Ask whether the figure is by mass or volume and which components are included in the total. If the supplier reports a dispersion concentration, ask how that relates to the finished coating. Do not calculate a product’s graphene content from an ambiguous number or assume that a solids percentage is an additive percentage.

Keep the commercial question in view

A higher stated loading does not automatically identify the better product for a particular surface. The useful comparison includes application, finish and documented performance. If a supplier does not disclose loading, that limits what can be said about composition; it does not justify inventing a value or inferring one from price.

Use a loading figure only with its basis and scope attached. For NANOLAB products, request the applicable specification rather than treating a generic article as a formula disclosure.
