A drawing of an uninterrupted graphene sheet can make a coating appear to be an impenetrable shield.

A drawing of an uninterrupted graphene sheet can make a coating appear to be an impenetrable shield. Real product claims need more than an idealised diagram. The structure and condition of the tested material must be established.
Research on graphene-coated copper has investigated oxidation associated with defects of different origins. The relevant lesson is that the details of a material system matter. An illustration showing an ideal lattice is educational artwork; it cannot establish the continuity of a coating on a vehicle.
Request evidence for the finished coating under the intended conditions, including how any barrier property was measured. Ask whether the illustration depicts an actual measured structure or a conceptual explanation. For additive-containing products, do not assume that dispersed particles create a single continuous sheet over the entire surface. That would be an additional structural claim requiring its own support.
Use diagrams to explain ideas clearly, and label them as schematic. Use measurements to describe the actual coating. Keeping those roles separate makes the technical story more trustworthy.
