From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Create a surface-based selection map rather than applying a single finish assumption everywhere.

A vehicle with glossy paint and matte trim has more than one appearance requirement. Product selection should preserve those differences instead of treating the entire exterior as one finish. Begin with a surface map and a clear description of the desired result.
Record paint, film and plastic areas separately, including any known previous treatments. Do not infer material from colour alone. Ask for manufacturer information where the finish is uncertain, and mark unidentified areas for further review before recommending a coating.
The owner may want a richer appearance on glossy paint while expecting matte trim to retain its existing character. Use the exact product's intended-use information and an appropriate representative test area where approved. Do not assume a product suitable for glossy paint will preserve the appearance of every adjacent matte component.
For example, a matte-looking panel could be film, painted material or textured plastic, each requiring its own identification. Record the selected product and instruction reference for confirmed areas, and state exclusions clearly. Explain the mixed-surface scope to the owner at handover. The strongest recommendation is one that fits the actual vehicle and appearance goals, not a blanket statement that one bottle can be applied everywhere without checking the surface or its history.
List the glossy paint and matte trim separately, including any factory treatment or repair history. For each, record the desired appearance, confirmed product suitability and preparation instructions. Do not let a single preference for gloss govern a matte component.
Use representative testing where supported to assess whether the proposed process preserves the intended finish. Keep excluded areas visible on the job map and quotation. At handover, tell the customer which products were used on which zones. This record helps future maintenance and prevents a later technician from assuming that one coating was applied everywhere simply because the vehicle was sold as a complete protection package.
