A shampoo leak can leave concentrated residue that spreads during wiping. Remove it before judging the condition of the glass coating.

Assess the starting condition

Note which product leaked, where it collected and whether it dried. Inspect glass, seals and nearby metal separately. A smeared film after cleaning can be remaining shampoo rather than coating damage.

A practical working method

  1. Collect excess product without spreading it across the pane.
  2. Use the approved coated-glass cleaning routine and rinse away loosened residue.
  3. Use a clean cloth or suitable squeegee for the final drying stage.
  4. Inspect the dry glass and repeat only the justified compatible cleaning step.

Common mistake

Changing to a stronger cleaner before removing the concentrated shampoo complicates diagnosis. Scrubbing with an abrasive pad may introduce marks unrelated to the leak.

What a useful result looks like

Accept a clear dry surface, then observe normal cleaning behaviour over subsequent use. Keep the product name and photographs if haze remains; they are more useful for support than a conclusion based only on water beading.
