Obtain the component information where possible and determine whether the exposed surface is lacquer, another clear treatment or bare metal. Do not infer the full finish history from a metallic appearance.
Record the mark under comparable dry lighting and include a contextual photograph. Use an approved cleaning assessment where appropriate. If the visible change remains beneath an identified outer finish, additional surface cleaning may not answer the restoration question.
Seek the relevant finish supplier’s method for the actual system. Do not abrade or dissolve a clear layer solely to make a nano coating possible. Keep any stripping, refinishing or appearance restoration as a separately defined process.
After any agreed work, confirm coating compatibility and preparation for the final exposed finish. Record retained marks and the accepted appearance. Nano coating should not be presented as reversing an unidentified change beneath lacquer.
